A special concert, this one recorded in the Sala della Filarmonica with pianists Davide Cabassi and Tatiana Larionova called to enhance the precious sounds of the two Steinways who have been sitting on the stage in Trento for years and carefully chosen by the direction of the Philharmonic in the Hamburg factory.
First of all, the program, truly compelling, summarizing a historical-cultural process fundamental for the formation of an erudite and at the same time popular taste, but always composed. On the one hand, in fact, we will find the gentle and collected, intimate but always intellectually guarded, mature and reflective chamber music of Franz Schubert; on the other - with a leap into the twentieth century with Shostakovich and Bernstein - a vocabulary of sounds that does not fear the orchestra that the two pianos intend to replace. On the contrary: the acute taste for detail shown by the two interpreters often turns out to be more profound and useful for the listener to understand the narratives.
A concert then embellished by the personality of the artists called on the scene: Cabassi, already winner of the Van Cliburn prize; Larionova winner of the Liszt Piano Competition, or two of the best pianists active today in Italy. But alongside their artistic skills, they like to recall their social commitment for years shown for the dissemination of music in disadvantaged environments and publics in contact with young people and people otherwise always excluded from the world of the arts.
